Safety & Privacy for Schools
A plain-language overview of how Project X keeps players safe and what happens with their data. The legal version is our Privacy Policy.
What we collect
Only what the app needs to run.
- Account: an email address, a display name and, if they choose, a profile photo.
- Training: workouts, sessions completed, minutes, streaks and shot counts.
- Team: which team a player is on, RSVPs to team events, and messages sent in the team.
- Shot Lab: the camera counts shots on the phone itself. The live video is not sent to us, only the numbers. Video is stored only if a player uploads a clip on purpose, or opts in to help improve the tracker, which for anyone under 18 needs a parent's consent by email first.
- Payments: handled by Apple or Stripe. We never see or store card numbers. Players on a paid team don't pay anything.
Who sees what
| Teammates | First names, and what's posted in the team chat. |
|---|---|
| The coach | Their roster, who trained each week (sessions and minutes), assigned-workout progress, RSVPs and the team chat. |
| Parents | The team chat, and every 1-on-1 conversation between a coach and their player. |
| Project X | What's needed to run the app, answer support requests and handle reports. |
| Advertisers | Nothing. There are no ads. |
Coach approval
Anyone can apply to run a team, but a team doesn't go live until Project X approves the coach. We check who they are and which program they coach before they get a team code. Approval usually takes less than a day.
Parent-included messaging
- No private adult-to-player messages. When a coach messages a player 1-on-1, the player's parent is in the thread. Every message, both ways.
- Team chat is open. Coaches and parents can see the team chat.
- First names only. Inside a team, players see each other by first name.
Moderation and reporting
Anyone can report a message from the message itself. Coaches can remove messages and mute a player in their team chat. Reports come to the Project X team, and we act on them. If a coach breaks the rules, we can remove them from the team.
We don't sell data
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. We share data only with the services that run the app (database and hosting, payments, and account emails), under agreements that limit how they use it.
Age, access and deleting data
Project X is for ages 13 and up. A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete their athlete's data at any time. Accounts can also be deleted from the app or from our delete account page.
